If you come softly By: Jacqueline Woodson
Part 1. Summary
Ellie and Miah both attend a private high school and once they literally bump into each other they can’t stop thinking about each other. The things that get better for Jeremiah is transferred into Ellie’s class and they caught up in the happiness of there first love. But people whisper behind their backs and old ladies give them startling looks, because Ellie is a white Jewish girl and Miah is black. Ellie has problems of her own with her mother. Ellie's mom left her not just once but twice when Ellie was young. I dont think their relationship will last especialy when they meet each other’s parents. That’s what I like about this book. Both characters are only difference is their skin color.

Part 2. Vocabulary:
Ragged: Someone who has ragged clothes.
(Today she had ragged clothes)

Saffron: Thecolor Orange-Yellow.
(I saw the color Saffron in a store)
Scarify: A scratch or a scar.
(I had a scarify in my leg)

(some people collied after school)
Crept:to move slowly and carefully to avoid being heard or noticed
(I ran in quietly inside the class room because i was late and i had no pass)

Part 3. Background Knowledge/Text Connections.
Text-to-text: “I think I know a lot of things, Ellie. I know everything isn’t about me. Maybe you think you have all the answers right now because of that boy, but you don’t. You’ll see how your life turns around on you and sets you down in some strange other place.” this text i would connect it with

Text-to-self: the text (Jeremaih)“I just want to be with Ellie, i just want to be happy with her" (Jeremaih's Mom)"your not going to see her any more" I would connect it to my self because I wanted to hang out with my friends at the park. But my mom said no because I came home late because i had detention.

Text-to-world: (Jeremaih)“I just want to be with Ellie, i just want to be happy with her" (Jeremaih's Mom)"your not going to see her any more" Some parents dont feel right of their daughter/son being in a relationship with someone different whose not part of their type. Some teenagers dont care what their parents say to them and the only thing that matters to them is to be happy.

Part 4. Inferring/Conclusions.
I feel that their parents are over reacting because i bet that Jeremaih and Ellie's parents will understand that they do belong together. That it dont matter that their skin color is different. The only thing that matters is that they love each other. But there parents dont seem to understand how they feel about them selfs being together. But there parents will understand and see the mistake they were saying. I feel this way because even though Ellie is white and Jeremaih.

Part 5. Questioning/Wondering
Are Jeremaih and Ellie going to introduce there parents to each other?
I dont think they are going to do that because both of them are afraid of what there parents are going to say

Why does Jeremaiah feel wrong about him self?
Jeremiah is always saying to him self ''why am i black why'' i just feel bad for him. But he is happy for what he is but he wants to know if other people are.
Does Jeremaih let his mom keep him and Ellie apart?
No Jeremaih doesnt let his mom keeping them

Part 6. Predicting
I predict that Jeremiah's mother is going to be watching out for Jeremiah because she found out about Ellie and that she is white and Jewish.
Jeremaih's mom did not spy on him and Ellie. My prediction was wrong because Jeremaih's mom is going to deal with it some other way.

I predict that despite the opposition on the part of both parents i think the love between jeremaih and ellie will succseed.
Jeremaih's and Ellie's relationship did succseed because Jeremaih and Ellie bought their parents together and had a conversation.
